63-7 Huskies Win
A wire-to-wire beating of the outclassed Montana Grizzlies is in the books. There’s little to say for this game which went precisely as Washington had hoped. A lackluster, uninspired effort in their first game is now in the past and they have a sharp game on which to build.
No Slow Start
A pick six was the lone blemish for the offense tonight, as the Huskies did whatever they wanted all night. Whatever jitters or lack of attention to detail kept them from being great last week, they looked entirely the part of a PAC 12 title contender tonight.
Defense Utterly Dominant
Montana is a quality program. Washington held them to less than 1 yard per carry and 4.3 yards per pass in a virtually flawless performance. The lone points were on a pick 6, so the Montana offense never hit paydirt. This was a great day for a defense rounding into form as the meat of the schedule approaches.
Huskies fans have more time to wait before they get a real test for this team, as Washington takes on Fresno State at home next week. The game does serve as a bit of a natural measuring stick, as Alabama beat the Bulldogs 41-10 tonight. Washington will look to exceed that margin.
